Studio JDB is a spatial design practice in Durban, working across South Africa for retail brands, their agencies, and the shopfitters who build for them.

We're small on purpose. The person who scans your site is the person who designs it, and the person who picks up the phone when the shopfitter has a question on installation morning.

How we work

1. Trace the problem. Constraints, aims, context — and a capture of the site as it actually is. You find out what you're working with before anyone spends money on a concept.

2. Model the decision. 3D and 5D to test time, cost, and experiential cues. You see the trade-off before you commit to it.

3. Prototype and iterate. Tactile mockups and renders. You approve something you can see, not something you have to imagine.

4. Deliver with lineage. Every drawing and asset links to its "why". Your next store starts from the last one instead of from scratch.

SketchUp with curated extensions, D5/V-Ray, Matterport capture, lightweight CNC/3D print for fast prototyping; analogue notebooks and pencils to slow down just enough to notice.
